Sustainability in Norway Cup
At Norway Cup and Bækkelagets Sportsklub, we take sustainability seriously. We have been actively working with the UN Sustainable Development Goals since 2017 and are one of the few organizers permitted to fly the UN flag during tournament week. In recent years, we have implemented measures that affect several and different dimensions of sustainability.
In 2024, we were awarded support from the Sports Environmental Fund and the Norwegian Sports Federation to prepare the tournament's very first climate account in the Green Producers Tool. This gave us an overall overview of the tournament's largest emission areas.
In 2026, we also became Miljøfyrtårn certified. During the certification process, we have mapped several relevant key figures for various indicators for the business, in line with Miljøfyrtårn's standard. An overview of key areas can be found here ( https://portal.miljofyrtårn.no/organizations/42902/data/publicStatistics).
In our work, we have also prepared our first sustainability strategy, and selected key sustainability goals that we want to focus on towards 2029. We have set the following goals for the period 2026 – 2029:
- We will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions to a minimum
- We will be a driving force for a more circular economy
- We will have a safe and inclusive working environment in the business. We will also protect workers' rights and promote a safe and secure working environment in the supply chain.
