Safe Tournament

Norway Cup shall be a safe tournament for all participants, volunteers and visitors.

Norway Cup and safety

Norway Cup shall be a safe tournament for all participants, volunteers, and others who visit the tournament. Our ambition is that everyone who sends children to participate in the Norway Cup should be confident that safe participation is the most important thing for us.

Norway Cup have built up a robust and experienced organization and a detailed contingency plan that will take effect if an unwanted incident should occur.

Close cooperation with the police and fire brigade
Through the years, we have had a very good and close collaboration with the Oslo Police District, which is one of the most important success factors for conducting a safe and secure tournament. The police use large resources to ensure the safety of the participants. The police establish each year a police station which is located centrally on Ekebergsletta. They also have their own patrols that are present at schools and other places where the participants spend the night.
In addition to the police, we also have a very good collaboration with the Oslo Fire and Rescue Service (OBRE). Every year, fire courses and exercises are organized so that key personnel, OBRE and Norway Cup are well prepared in the event of a fire. In addition to close follow-up of all aspects of fire safety throughout the tournament, we have a special focus on fire prevention measures and fire protection at the schools where participants sleep during the tournament.

Plans and routines in relation to fire protection are reviewed and updated every year by their own fire officer in the Norway Cup organization.

Ungdomskontakten and Natteravnene

Norway Cup has also for many years had an excellent collaboration with Oslo Municipality and their youth contacts from the different districts. The same applies to Natteravnene with their visible presence further strengthening our security work.

Contact with coaches, team leaders and parents
A very important criteria for organizing a safe and secure tournament is, of course, all the coaches, team leaders and parents who have been following their teams to the Norway Cup for years. Good contact with these and available information about our recommendations regarding safety for all participants is a priority area for us.

Safeguarding digital course
Norway Cup has developed a safeguarding digital course - in close partnership with Save the Children Norway and the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sports. This course shall provide team leaders, coaches and volunteers with safeguarding competence, to protect children from sexual abuse in organized football.

Norway Cup Code of Conduct

Violation of these guidelines will lead to sanctions from the Norway Cup. Norway Cup has routines for handling violations of guidelines. Abuse or other offenses are automatically reported to the police.

By following the Code of Conduct, everyone contributes to a safe arena and a positive experience for everyone who participates.

FOR PLAYERS:

  • I will treat everyone I meet at Norway Cup with respect and dignity.
  • I will not engage in any form of bullying or harassment.
  • I will respect the boundaries of others, and not touch or talk to anyone in a way that is perceived as abusive or offensive.
  • I will not use any form of violence.
  • I will not use drugs or doping.
  • I will follow the tournament rules.
  • I will be a good representative of my club

FOR COACHES, TEAM LEADERS AND VOLUNTEERS:

  • All children have the right to be safe when participating in sports. To be safe means not being exposed to abuse, harassment, discrimination, or other forms of harm.
  • As a coach / team leader / volunteer, I will treat all children fairly and avoid all forms of discrimination and harassment.
  • I will never touch a child in a way that may be perceived as sexually abusive.
  • For the sake of the children's safety, as a general rule, more volunteers should be present when spending time with children. If a player wants to talk about personal matters, make sure you are in an open area.
  • Digital communication should not take place with players individually. This is the same as being alone with players.
  • As a coach, team leader or volunteer, I will never be under the influence of alcohol or drugs when I am with the children.
  • As a coach, I must be aware of my role, both towards children and parents:
    • It is important not to create unrealistic expectations of me as a coach, or to contribute to unfair treatment of children / families. I will avoid personal gifts or other special attention to individual children / families.
    • I will avoid unprofessional relationships with a player outside the football activity – also on digital platforms like social media.
    • I will be honest and clear in communication with the children - about purpose and responsibility, and about opportunity and limitations. I will never make promises I cannot keep.
  • I will show respect for the child's integrity and avoid disclosing situations when photographing and other documentation of the child's situation.
  • I will treat all information provided by children and young people in confidence confidentially. Information shall not be passed on without the children being informed of this.
  • I will notify if I experience a violation of these guidelines.
