One of the highlight of Norway Cup is the opening show. Thousands of teenagers welcomed the most popular music group in Norway with open arms, the Rap-Duo Hkeem and Temur. They performed their hit “Fy, faen” (Oh shit), in a fabulous stage show. They also performed a new song «En som meg» (One like me), which was also well received.
Hkeem and Temur are so popular in Norway that they are beating international names like Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez and Zara Larsson in streaming statistics.
Norwaycup.no talked with the Rap-duo after the performance. They are not sure what the future brings they told, but they’ll keep on producing new music.
The hit «Fy Faen» was created very spontaneously, the guys told Norwaycup.no. But they realized soon that the song would be their song.
The songs success and the breakthrough for the group came when their music was used in the Norwegian teen drama SKAM (Shame). SKAM has taken the world by storm. The series is about the daily life of teenagers at the Hartvig Nissen School, a gymnasium in the wealthy borough of Frogner in West End Oslo.
-After our song got a big boost through the famous Skam series, we gained more international attention, which feels good”.
-The plan is to come up with some new songs and maybe we will be more on TV. Later, we would like to reach more internationally and maybe start singing in English. But we are not great planners, we’ll take it just as it comes, they say.
Hkeem and Temur were very happy to be allowed to perform at the opening show at the Norway Cup.The duo search to play at the opening some years ago without being accepted.
“We love the opening show at Norway Cup. It is an international stage. Norway Cup is for everyone. No matter what religion, color or political interest you have. It creates a network and unity across nationalities, says Hkeem and Temur.
